December 24 Motor Vehicle Accident

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti announced that a pedestrian was fatally struck by a motor vehicle on Route 22 East bound at the intersection with North Drive on Sunday night, December 23, at 11:38 pm.   The victim, John Dillon Jr., (50 years of age and a North Plainfield resident), was pronounced deceased at the scene via Mercy 6 paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.   The motor vehicle operator, Hal Ottenstein, (56 years of age of Clark), has not been charged with any motor vehicle or criminal violations at this time. 
The accident is under active investigation by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team, and the North Plainfield Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.  Any witnesses are urged to contact the North Plainfield Police Department at 908-769-2937 or the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Tip Line at 1-888-577-8477. 

The North Plainfield Fire Department and the New Jersey Department of Transportation also responded to the scene.
