Water Pressure

While New Jersey American Water's larger treatment facilities slowly return to utility power, many of our well stations and booster stations remain operational via stand-by generators. These stations are critical to the delivery of water to many areas across the state. Until they return to utility power the possibility exists that these generators may fail and indeed, some have failed. When a generator fails, we dispatch crews to the site to make repairs and at the same time, try to redeploy other generators to the site. In times of generator failure, customers may experience low pressure or no water until power is restored and the system has time to recover. We are continuously working to minimize the impact of these unexpected failures. When I become aware of failures and their impact, I will continue to send updates to officials in the effected areas.
