Workshop Focuses on Healthy Lifestyles for Families

SOMERVILLE – Healthy lifestyles can be challenging for busy families.  A free, interactive workshop for parents of young children will be offered on Thursday, June 14, in Fuld Auditorium at Somerset Medical Center, located at 110 Rehill Avenue . 

Advance registration is required by June 12.  To register, call (908) 203-6234 or visit www.somersetmedicalcenter.com  and select Community Health Programs under the Events dropdown menu.

The program will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m.  Sign-in starts at 5:30 p.m.  Participants will receive tips for raising good eaters, ideas for making quick meals, and practical advice for planning family meals using www.myplate.gov.  They also will learn how to fit exercise into busy lives and hear suggestions for fun and easy exercises to do as a family.

The workshop will feature a cooking demonstration by Somerset Medical Center ’s Executive Chef.  A panel of professionals will offer ideas on how to create a healthy living environment for families.  Educational displays, resources and giveaways also will be included.

The workshop is cosponsored by the Somerset County Office of Youth Services, Friends of Somerset County Youth, Somerset Medical Center Healthier Somerset, the Somerset Valley YMCA and Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Somerset County.
