Press Release of December 3, 2013

North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti announced that the North Plainfield Police Department in conjunction with the North Plainfield Fire Department is investigating a suspicious incident that occurred at a borough residence. At 3:45 pm, Sunday afternoon, December 1, both the police and fire departments responded to a fire alarm at 43 Jackson Avenue.  Although no active fire was found officials did find evidence that the stove had been tampered with and what was believed to be cooking oil left on the stove.

The residence is part of a duplex and is currently vacant without anyone living in it.  The investigation has established that unknown persons had been seen exiting the house prior to the fire alarm activation. Chief Parenti said the investigation is active and ongoing at this time.   Chief Parenti further requested  that anyone with any knowledge of the incident contact the North Plainfield Police Department at 908 769 2937.
