'Key Concepts in Psychological First Aid' Workshop

SOMERVILLE - The Somerset County Department of Human Services is hosting a full-day workshop on “Key Concepts in Psychological First Aid” for crisis responders who may be called upon to interact with victims in the early stages after a disaster, terrorism or other violent or traumatic event, including shelter volunteers, spiritual leaders, community leaders, medical personnel, mental health professionals and others.

The workshop will be held Monday, Nov. 18, in the third-floor conference room at the Somerset County Department of Human Services Building at 27 Warren St., Somerville, NJ 08876.  Guests should arrive by 8:50 a.m.; the program will begin at 9 a.m. The cost is $10.99 per person. The program will address critical knowledge areas and skill sets that will allow the crisis responder to deliver effective, empirically sound services within the first 48 hours after an event.

A break will be provided for lunch. Participants may bring lunch or may visit one of the many eateries in the area. Free parking is available on the third floor or above in the parking garage next to the building.

Completion of this workshop provides six Disaster Response Crisis Counselor credits and six National Association of Social Workers continuing education credits.
