National Night Out Recap

Chief William Parenti announced that the North Plainfield Police Department’s held its tenth annual Emergency Vehicle Expo and PBA cookout to commemorate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, in the municipal parking lot across from Borough hall.  The Police Department had a variety of police vehicles on display as well as the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Emergency Response Team’s armored truck known as the Bear. The North Plainfield Fire Department also held a static display of the Department’s apparatus.  Patrolman Benevolent Association local 85 donated funding for a barbeque cookout along with frozen ices.  Area vendors also participated such as Safeguard Document Shredding from Manalapan, New Jersey, which accepted paper documents from borough residents from shredding at no cost to the Borough.  Chief Parenti said about 350 residents showed up and were able to meet their public safety officials in a relaxed and informal setting.
