North Plainfield Farmers Market

The North Plainfield Farmers Market opens for the 2013 season on Saturday, June 29th. The market is located in the public parking lot across from Borough Hall at 263 Somerset Street.

Award winning Norz Hill Farm of Hillsborough, NJ is returning for their third season at the market. They will be bringing all the same great produce they’ve had in previous years and more, including several varieties of heirloom tomatoes, dozens of varieties of peppers and squash, cucumbers, jersey corn and of course the great jersey tomatoes we all know and love. This year they will also be bringing a selection of fresh farmstead cheeses and farm fresh eggs. Seasonal fresh fruit can always be found at the market. Look for peaches and nectarines in July. Check the Norz Hill Farm web site for more info: http://www.norzhillfarm.com/.

Senior vouchers for the market will be available this year at the county offices on Somerset Street. Call the Somerset County Department on Aging at 1-888-747-1122 for more details.

Also, catch Paul Alirangues, formerly of Organigaya Café, hosting a Farm Fresh Cooking demonstration at the North Plainfield Library, 6 Rockview Avenue, on Wednesday, July 17th, from 7:00-8:30 pm. Paul will be demonstrating three great dishes prepared entirely with ingredients from Norz Hill Farm.
