Public Input Sought to Shape Region's Future

March 12 Workshop at Somerset County Vo-Tech

BRIDGEWATER – Come join the discussion about “Where are we now?” and “Where are we headed?” as Together North Jersey works to develop a regional plan to connect people, places and potential.

Together North Jersey, the Somerset County Board of Freeholders, Somerset County Planning Board and North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) invite members of the public to share their ideas at an upcoming workshop to be held Tuesday, March 12, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Somerset County Vocational & Technical School Cafeteria, Building C, at 14 Vogt Drive, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.

“We are looking for public input to help develop long-range plans that will shape the future of northern and central New Jersey,” said Freeholder Director Peter S. Palmer, who represents Somerset County on the NJTPA.

The workshop is part of a series being held throughout the region by Together North Jersey, a consortium of local, state and regional partners working together on a Regional Plan for Sustainable Development.  These workshops are an opportunity for the public to share ideas about planning for the future to build stronger communities and local and regional economies with better access to transportation, housing, jobs and educational, cultural and recreational opportunities. The NJTPA also will be on hand to discuss Plan 2040, its update to the long-range transportation plan for the region.

The workshops will include the public, local government, community groups, private industry and business representatives, and other interested parties.  The workshops will begin with an open house and presentations on the planning process. This will be followed by breakout sessions on regional goals and priorities.
