Route 22/Chimney Rock Road Interchange Work Shifts to Eastbound Side

BRIDGEWATER – Work on the Route 22/Chimney Rock Road Interchange project has shifted to the eastbound side, now that the new westbound lanes are open.

On Dec. 13, 2013, Route 22 Westbound was shifted from the temporary diversionary road between the Thompson Avenue overpass and I-287 ramps onto a newly constructed Route 22 Westbound.  The new westbound roadway also includes ramps to and from the newly constructed Frontier Road and Chimney Rock Road – the northern portion of the project.  All through lanes and exits remain accessible; additional traffic and directional signs have been posted.

On Jan. 21, 2014, Route 22 Eastbound traffic was shifted slightly to the north between the Thompson Avenue overpass and I-287 ramps.  Chimney Rock Road and all of the businesses along Route 22 Eastbound remain accessible.  The current traffic patterns for Route 22 Westbound and Eastbound will be utilized for several months while the contractor performs work on the new Route 22 Eastbound local and express lanes and the Chimney Rock Road southerly widening.
