North Plainfield Police Chief William Parenti announced that the North Plainfield Police Department, in conjunction with the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team, is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident in the borough.  At 9:17 pm, the North Plainfield Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 22 and North Dr. in North Plainfield.  Responding police units found that a pedestrian, Deborah Bewry of North Plainfield Age 46 had been struck in the intersection by multiple vehicles and sustained fatal injuries. It appears that the pedestrian was traveling North through the intersection and the vehicles were traveling West.

Drivers involved Kabba Sankoh, North Plainfield, NJ Age 26, Jason Thomas, North Plainfield, NJ Age 22 and Usamah Barrow, Plainfield, NJ Age 34.

The North Plainfield Fire Department and Atlantic Paramedics from Overlook Hospital responded.  The New Jersey Department of Transportation also responded to divert traffic while the investigation was being conducted.  Chief Parenti said the investigation is still active and on-going.  Chief Parenti urges anyone with information to contact the North Plainfield Police Department at 908-769-2937, and request to speak to Traffic Safety Sergeant Kardos or Detective Florek, or the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line at 1-888-577-8477.
