The North Plainfield Fire Department (NPFD) has recently become aware of the fact that some local residents have received solicitation type phone calls from an entity allegedly representing the “North Plainfield Fire Department”.   The person calling apparently claims to be “fundraising” for the local fire department.  Please know that the NPFD is NOT actively fundraising nor do we engage in that type of activity.   Although the fire officers and firefighters unions will participate in fundraising at times, they are not currently doing so.  When they do, they or their representatives will clearly identify themselves with legitimate contact information.  Borough residents should be alert to this fact and ask for specific contact information from anyone who may call or contact them for fundraising.  Please notify the North Plainfield Police Department to report any such questionable calls.
