Somerset County Clerk’s Office Extends Hours for Mail-In Ballot Voters

SOMERVILLE - The Somerset County Clerk’s Office is extending its hours to accommodate voters who will be unable to go to the polls for primary elections on Tuesday, June 6.

Applications for mail-in ballots are available online at: http://www.co.somerset.nj.us/CountyClerkElectionDiv , or at the County Clerk’s Office, located in the lobby of the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St.

The County Clerk’s Office will remain open until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, for residents who need ballot applications.  In addition, the County Clerk’s Office will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.

If submitted by mail, completed applications must be received by Tuesday, May 30 (seven days prior to the election).  This will allow time for the ballot to be mailed back to the applicant.

Voters, or authorized messengers for voters who are sick or confined, may visit the County Clerk’s Office during office hours up until 3 p.m. on Monday, June 5, to fill out an application and receive a mail-in ballot.  A state statute limits messengers to three voters per election.

Completed mail-in ballots can be mailed to the Somerset County Election Board, P.O. Box 3000, Somerville NJ 08876.  Ballots also can be dropped off at the Board of Elections, located next to the County Clerk’s Office in the county Administration Building.  Mail-In ballots can be returned until the polls close at 8 p.m. on election night.

The Somerset County Clerk's Office administers oath to notaries public, processes passport applications and records land records and related legal documents that deal with land situated in Somerset County.
